Sports massage isn't only for sport
The name can be slightly misleading. You don’t need to run, play football or spend your evenings in the gym to benefit from sports massage.
Muscles can feel tight, tired or sore after work, lifting, driving, gardening or simply doing more than usual.
Sports massage gives us time to focus on the areas that are bothering you, using hands-on treatment and pressure that feels appropriate for you.
Sometimes that’s after a hard week of training. Sometimes it’s after a hard week full stop.

What brings people in for sports massage?
Tight & overworked muscles
For areas that feel tense, heavy, stiff or uncomfortable and could do with some focused hands-on treatment.
Training & recovery
Running, gym sessions, cycling, football and other activities can leave muscles feeling tired or tight.
Work & everyday life
Desk work, driving, physical jobs, lifting and spending long periods on your feet can all leave certain areas feeling particularly overworked.
Aches after doing a little too much
A weekend in the garden, decorating the house, a long walk or an unfamiliar activity can sometimes make itself known the following day.
Your massage doesn't have to hurt to be effective
Sports massage has a reputation for being painfully deep. It doesn’t need to be.
Some people prefer firmer treatment, while others respond better to gentler pressure. Your therapist will check how the pressure feels and adjust it as you go.
The aim isn’t to see how much discomfort you can tolerate. It’s to focus on the areas that need attention at a level that feels right for you.
The right help when you need it
Sports massage is one of several ways we help people at Back In Motion.
Our massage therapists work alongside chiropractors, sports therapists and rehabilitation professionals within the same clinic.
If something doesn’t seem like simple muscle tension, or you need more help recovering from an injury, we can point you towards the most appropriate next step.
